Innovation and Tech in Europe: How does it define the future of our continent?

Only 8% of scaleups are based in Europe, while 30% of our successful startups leave for the US when it is time to scale globally. This “brain drain” represents a significant threat to European democracy, sovereignty and security. Mario Draghi’s report on the future of European competitiveness underscored the urgency we are facing; we need to be cutting edge, not export our cutting edge potential to other continents. The EU commission is implementing their Startup and Scaleup Strategy: Choose Europe to incentivize more founders and companies to stay and grow from Europe. As part of this, they have launched the €5bn Scaleup Europe Fund and are investing strategically in tech companies representing tomorrow’s industries.
